Fall fishing: Tarpon, Reds, Snook.

I'll admit, I'm not the best at sitting down to write a fishing report on my computer. September tends to be the slowest time for us charter captains here, but fishing can actually be quite enjoyable. We're at the seasonal transition, and the fall bite is just starting. Pilchards and mullet are appearing on the flats, and snook and other predators are beginning to feed more aggressively. Many of my anglers find the gurgler fly challenging to use, but it's actually one of my favorite flies to use at first light for snook, tarpon, and redfish, especially at this time of year. I've been enjoying some personal fishing over the past week or so, and we've been catching tarpon on most trips, which is great. Many of them are smaller fish under 40 pounds, but they're still fun. For the tarpon enthusiasts, I believe we'll have a good fall push of fish, though I can't predict the future. As long as we don't experience early season cold fronts, I expect some south-bound tarpon cruising the gulf. Anyhow, thats all i got for now and if you want to get out and fish, please give me a call or email. Fishing should be great in the following months.
